It’s hard to visualize a productive person as being the type who jumps out of bed in the morning in a frenzy, who lacks sleep, and who leads a disorganized life. An efficient person knows how to manage things, is prepared, and follows essential nighttime habits that are necessary to be successful the next day. Sleep, proper rest, and peace of mind are very important to one’s disposition.
Here are ten rituals you may follow during the night that will ensure that you’ll wake up the next day properly rested and ready for success.
“Un-wined”
Sometimes we like to reward ourselves at the end of a day with a few glasses of wine. The only problem with that is that it may disrupt your sleep and you may not feel fully rested the following day. Consider capping off your day with herbal tea instead.
Unplug to Recharge
Even computers, tablets, and mobile phones aren’t designed to go on functioning without being properly resupplied with power. They need to recharge and so do we. Turn off your gadgets for at least half an hour before going to bed. Allow your mind to relax, focus on the present, and free yourself from anxiety.
Stretch It Out
Sometimes we don’t realize how busy we are and how our muscles tense up. We work all day and feel stiff, and that’s a sign that we should listen to our bodily needs. So flex your muscles, try stretching overhead, and reach your toes. Release that tension. Relax.
Prepare for Tomorrow
Pace yourself by preparing ahead when you can. At night, decide on what to wear for work, and have the clothes prepared so you’ll have more free time to do other things tomorrow. Go through your things so nothing gets left behind, pack your suitcase, and don’t forget to bring a healthy lunch.
Set Aside “Me Time”
Don’t get too caught up with everything at once. Try to step out of it all for at least 20 minutes before ending your day. Read a book, and have a soulful, warm shower. Remind yourself that you are at peace by having some personal space.
List Your “Big Three”
It is important to keep things in order and be organized. Try to keep track of your major tasks for tomorrow by writing at least 3 of them down on a piece of paper. This habit will make you feel more efficient, and by not having everything scattered in your mind all the time, you will become more productive. This should make you feel more successful each day.
Have a Pajama Party
Put on your PJs! Loose-fitting, smooth, cool, and comfortable, clothing reminds our minds are minds that we’re at our place of sanctuary and it’s time to unwind. It makes us want to take a rest and transition from work to going to bed.
Practice Gratitude
Sometimes when we try too hard to attain what we want in life that we forget to be grateful for what we already have. We become restive by replaying all the things we’d missed, being agitated by our mistakes; we get mad at ourselves. This isn’t an ideal way to end your day. Be grateful. Think of the things you ought to be thankful for. For 5 minutes, practice meditating on things you’re happy to have. Go to sleep with fulfillment and feeling a sense of contentment.
Forgive and Forget
Keeping a journal can be therapeutic. It’s like having a friend before the day ends with whom you can talk to, by writing down the things that hurt you, and challenged you. Unload that weight from your mind. Forgive yourself. Write down what irked you in a day and forget it. Let go of that emotional baggage. Tomorrow is a new day.
Stick to Your Bedtime
Do not compromise your sleep. Each day, set a fixed time to rest. Having 7 to 9 hours of sleep daily is scientifically proven to give you optimal rest. It is important to rejuvenate yourself. It enhances your brain power, mood, and overall disposition. So start your day by being well-rested.
